Perspectives: Alix’s Autumn Table
As autumn begins, we turn to a voice we trust implicitly: Alix Pickard. Currently CMO of Bagatelle, the world-renowned French dining concept, Alix has spent years shaping some of hospitality’s most successful and well-loved brands. A close friend of Brand Reveller, her passion for food and research means she is always discovering the restaurants worth knowing.
“There’s something deeply nostalgic for me about autumn,” Alix told us. “The way the air turns crisp and comforting, the light softens into amber, and everything slows down a fraction after a summer of socialising.”
It’s her favourite season, not just because it’s her birthday, though that helps, but because it brings everything she loves:
“Crunchy leaves underfoot, deep glasses of red wine, and long, cosy dinners with people I adore.”
Here are five of Alix’s favourite places to enjoy autumn in London — whether that’s a late lunch, a long dinner, or simply settling in somewhere warm with a glass of wine.
Dovetale, Mayfair
“Dovetale in autumn is my favourite for work meetings,” Alix says. Tucked inside 1 Hotel Mayfair, it has roaring fires, furry rugs and small considered details like naughty treats with a hot matcha.
Chez Lui, Notting Hill
Chez Lui in Notting Hill is a true neighbourhood gem and one of Alix’s personal favourites — “it wraps you in candlelight and warmth the moment you walk in.” Intimate, unfussy, and full of heart. Steak frites + comforting creamy dauphinoise + a bottle of Burgundy. Heaven.
The Holly Bush, Hampstead
After a windswept walk across Hampstead Heath, there’s nowhere better to retreat to than The Holly Bush. Nestled among the old cobbled backstreets, this historic pub is all low ceilings, flickering fireplaces and hearty pies.
High by Gordon Ramsay, The City
At High by Gordon Ramsay, the intimate 12-seat chef’s table offers panoramic views of London, glowing gold as the sun sets over the skyline. “The menu is delicious and seasonal, every one of the (many) courses a celebration of autumn’s finest ingredients.”
Petersham Nurseries, Richmond
An oldie but a goodie — “it makes me feel like I’m dining outdoors, even when it’s too cold.” The floral décor, candlelit tables and seasonal menu (straight from the garden, quite literally) make this a favourite of hers.
Alix PIckard
A trusted friend of The Reveller and food expert, Alix has travelled the globe in her hospitality career — but London is the city she now calls home. She is currently CMO of Bagatelle.
