Where Will the White Lotus Check-in Next?
The French Four Seasons Favourites for Season Four
Rumour has it that The White Lotus is heading for France. After Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, season four could unfold not on an island or coastline, but in one of the world’s most cosmopolitan destinations: a capital city.
Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris
If Mike White wants to shake things up, Paris is the obvious move. A city setting would be a first for the series, trading languid pool days for late-night encounters and long café lunches. And the George V is a favourite of ours: drinks and dinner, cakes and dates — it’s one of our go-tos in the city. The Art Deco grande dame, just off the Champs-Élysées, drips with old-school glamour and fresh flowers, and its Michelin-starred dining rooms are ripe for drama. Could The White Lotus turn the City of Light into a city of secrets?
Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, Côte d’Azur
Still, the safe bet is the Riviera. The Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat has pedigree, pedigree, pedigree — a palace between Nice and Monaco that has hosted everyone from Picasso to Elizabeth Taylor. Picture sunburnt billionaires clashing over rosé at the pool while yachts idle offshore. It’s almost too White Lotus, which might count against it. White himself has said he wants to move away from “the crashing waves of rocks vernacular.”
Four Seasons Hotel Megève, French Alps
Then there’s Megève, the alpine outsider. The ski-in, ski-out Four Seasons could give us fur-clad chaos: mislaid designer luggage, avalanches real or imagined, romances sparked on chairlifts. Fans have long dreamed of a ski-season Lotus, though White has admitted he hates the cold. If he braves the snow, the pay-off could be deliciously frosty.
The Verdict
Whether it’s Parisian intrigue, Riviera excess, or alpine absurdity, France offers a new canvas for Mike White’s biting satire. George V feels like the wildcard — but one we’d love to see win. Whichever Four Seasons gets the nod, one thing is certain: season four will once again prove that luxury is never just a backdrop. It’s the stage on which the drama unfolds.
